| Midsomer Norton & Radstock - Area information |
|
You'll find Midsomer Norton and Radstock 10 miles south of Bath and
15 mile SE of Bristol. Although very different in character and origin, the
towns are usually referred to under the one embracing label, - as "Norton
Radstock". The town provides good road communication with links to J18 on the
M4, the A37 and from Bristol the M5. |
| Midsomer Norton is an old market town dating back to Medieval times,
with a river running down the High Street, one of the oldest houses in the area
(the Old Priory Hotel & Restaurant) , and a 15th Century Tithe Barn, which
now is home to the Catholic Church. Many independent retailers and businesses
allows Midsomer Norton town centre to retain the character and old fashioned
charm not often found in today's High Streets. |
Radstock is a former mining and railway town located on the old
Roman 'Fosse Way'. Once the powerhouse for Bath, Radstock has some unique
architecture associated with its mining and Victorian heritage. Radstock has
been described as the best preserved former mining town in the country, and may
soon become a conservation area. Independent retailers in the town offer a
range of food, retail and service outlets. The population of Midsomer Norton
& Radstock is 21,325
